Good morning! Mother’s Day is right around the corner! Since it’s coming up soon, I’m sharing some simple D.I.Y. gift ideas with you. Today, I’m showing you how to create an adorable butterfly using your little one’s footprint. If you are a mama to a furbaby, I have an alternative design using paw prints. So grab a cup of coffee and let’s create some art!
1. Watercolor paper
2. Watercolor paints
3. Acrylic paints
4. Paint pens
5. Paint brush
6. A little foot and/or paw
Paint your child’s foot with your favorite color of acrylic paint. I used Pink Taffeta for the bottom portion of the foot and Scallion for the top part and toesies.
Press the bottom of your child’s foot onto the paper. Wipe this foot off and do the same with the other foot. The feet should look something like this:
Let the paint dry. When the paint is finished drying, use the paint pens to make the butterfly’s body. That’s it! Now you have a beautiful piece of art using your little one’s footprints. To add more color to the print, you can have your child paint in the empty spaces.
Paw Print Flower Art
My younger dachshund, Leilani, was used for this piece of artwork because she is more cooperative than Lulu. Pick a paw and paint it with acrylic paint. Not to worry! The paint is water-based and nontoxic. Have your pup press the paw onto the paper several times. This is all I was able to get this time, but make as many flowers as you’d like.
Thoroughly clean the pup’s paw.
Once the paint is dry, use your watercolors to turn the paw prints into little flowers.
Finish up your artwork by adding a stem and some leaves.
We made a butterfly and beautiful flowers with a little help from our little ones. Now we’re ready to give them as gifts for mamas and mimis!
Have a blessed day!
