Hello! I hope everyone had a nice long weekend! I was able to take a little trip to the beach and it was a lot of fun! There was also time to start decorating for summer. I started with the shelf that is in what I call my extra living space. Like I mentioned before, I call this my extra living space because it might actually be the real living room. We just don’t utilize a traditional dining room. That might change in the future though. I have been playing around with some ideas.
This space has had different functions over the years. It was even used as an office area at one point! I just really enjoy how open it is.
We were even able to make a mini farmer’s market for our daughter.
My mom gave me some special gifts last Christmas. She had these beautiful canvases made for me. I wanted to incorporate them into my summer decorating.
Only one problem. I never really used blue to decorate before. Plus, I didn’t know how these prints would look on my espresso-colored shelf.
I must say, it actually came out nice! The corbels are from Hobby Lobby. I placed a couple of vintage-looking books between them.
To the left of the display is a message in a bottle and some seashells.
To the right of the display is a candle and some more seashells.
Since I was decorating the shelf for summer, I figured I might as well add a little summer vibe to the mini farmer’s market. I purchased these adorable blue bottles to replace the milk bottles. I also changed out some of the flowers. Other than that, the rest stayed the same.
My little lady has been requesting a shopping cart. I had trouble finding the right one. Most of the ones I found were plastic. Well, while having dinner at Cracker Barrel one night, she found this adorable little one! She was so happy!
Here is a full view of the new summer display:
I hope this post encourages you to experiment with colors you haven’t used before. I like the color blue, I just never thought it matched any of my things.
See you soon!
